Guiyuan is a current PhD student from UNSW and the Garvan Institute of Medical Research. Previously, he was a pancreatic surgeon in Nanjing, China. During his 13+ years of clinical practice, he was exposed to the devastating challenges of the notorious pancreatic cancer. Witnessing the limitations of surgery, and the resistance to conventional treatments. He turned to immunotherapy as a transformative solution. By studying T cells within metastatic tumour microenvironments, he seeks to uncover novel actionable therapeutic targets that could improve adoptive cell transfer immunotherapies, including CAR-T therapy. He aspires to bridge the gap between groundbreaking research and clinical practice and turn immunotherapy’s promise into reality for those who need it most.
